Aerolase® LightPod V650™ Laser Treatment
The Aerolase® LightPod V650™ laser is designed to treat a number of superficial vascular issues of the face, neck and chest that many people find bothersome. Unlike lasers that treat these superficial skin conditions by emitting pulses of energy that last from 10 to 50 milliseconds, the LightPod V650 laser emits pulses of energy that last only 650 microseconds. The advantage of the shorter burst of energy is that it eliminates the scarring and other adverse effects on skin tissue sometimes caused by lasers that use longer pulses.
Applications for the Aerolase LightPod V650 Laser
The Aerolase LightPod V650 laser eliminates or reduces the prominence of telangiectasias, which are small, thin blood vessels visible beneath the skin. They usually develop on the face, and can look like a series of thin tree branches or strands of a spider web.
The LightPod V650 laser also treats the redness caused by rosacea, which is skin condition that affects the cheek, nose, chin and/or forehead. In addition to bumps and pimples, skin affected by rosacea has small but visible blood vessels. The LightPod V650 laser effectively treats these blood vessels, and improves the overall appearance of the skin. General diffuse redness, such as that caused by poikiloderma of civatte or exposure to ultraviolet rays, can also be treated effectively.
Advantages of the Aerolase LightPod V650 Laser
In addition to eliminating scarring, treatment with the LightPod V650 laser has other advantages, including the following, over lasers that use longer-lasting pulses:
- Less painful
- No topical anesthetic required
- No skin-cooling required
Another advantage to the LightPod V650 laser is that it can be used on dark-pigmented skin, because the shorter pulse time reduces the risk of hypo- or hyperpigmentation.
The number of treatments required varies.
